The Plan

So, here's our plan for giving service in 2011:

Week--for 2-3 month blocks we'll find a local service opportunity and donate 1-2 hours of time each week.

Month--each month we'll find a one-time service opportunity in the community.

Quarter--each quarter we'll invite friends and family to join us in a large service project.

Year--Later during the year we'll take a trip and give service somewhere in the world.

Each week we'll share our service experiences on our blog--what we've learned, how we feel, who we meet. Our blog is linked to Facebook so you can "be our fan" and follow our year of service there as well. We'll also use Facebook to post events so you can join us for upcoming service projects.

If you want to serve, check out our links to service opportunities in the community. Or if you know of service opportunities, post a comment with the details. After all, we've all got "something to give."

1-19-11 American Fork Library--Straightening Books

When I called the American Fork Library to arrange our service time, the Librarian was excited to tell me about AF City's goal to reach 50,000 volunteer hours by April 8th, as part of National Volunteer Week. So, our hours of service at the library is serving a dual purpose! If you want to learn more about AF City's goal and how you can contribute, click on the link for AF City and check out their website for details.

This week we straightened books in the Children's Library. It wasn't hard work (except for being on our knees for a bit) and it was fun to see some of our favorite books and find a few new titles to add to our reading list.

A focus on Service

This blog has been created by Amy and Terri, two friends who want to make this world a better place. A few months ago we decided we want to make 2011 a year of service.

Our goal for this year (and beyond) is to find and participate in service opportunities on a regular basis. We've created a blog and a facebook page to record and share our experiences. We hope you'll follow our blog and "like" our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Something2Give/132784380118312).

Better yet, we hope you'll join us in finding something to give this year, whether that be time, money, talents, contacts, or even a little encouragement. We are planning a few projects that are bigger than the two of us and we will need to recruit some help. Stay tuned for more details.
